Basic Christianity 01 – Introduction

So my goal here is to make a series of videos I wish existed when I personally converted to Christianity. It’s almost like I’m trying to convert myself all over again. I remember when I became Catholic, I raided my DRE’s office and stole all her videos. Most of them were from the 70s, and just didn’t answer my questions at all!

Transcript:

Do you have questions about what the Catholic Church is, what it believes, or why it believes it? Maybe you are have a friend or a colleague who is Catholic, or maybe you are just curious. If so, you are in the right place. No prior knowledge is needed. This is meant to be the most basic and simple overview of where the Catholic Church comes from and what it believes.

Do not expect me to get into great detail in this series, as it is for the complete novice. Also, you may find I missed information that is of great importance, and you would be right. It would be impossible for me to relate 2000 years of history and the beliefs and traditions of over a billion people worldwide in this short a series, but I do hope to give you enough information to have a good overview.

In this series of videos, I will take you on a journey through the very basics of Christianity, especially as it relates to the Catholic Church. We will start with the questions Christianity tries to answer, talk about this “Christ” that Christianity is named after, and then briefly look at how the Church developed.

If you would like to know more, feel free to go to deacondance.com, where you will find list of links to great sites that can answer any questions you may have, or if you like, you can call or go to a nearby Catholic Church and ask the priest there, who can direct you to more information.
